TSO at the TOA Summit

TOA

What does the TOA do for me? We’ve heard this question raised many times. But have you ever stopped to think, why? Why is it that doctors don’t know what TOA does for them, or why don’t they want to join? And perhaps one of the simplest truths may be that people do not value what they do not know or understand. Many doctors hear about the advocacy the TOA does, but they don’t see how their work will impact their careers and the industry as a whole.

Not only does the TOA offer Continuing Education classes, resources, and best practices for independent optometrists, but the organization also plays an essential role in advocating for the optometry industry in the state. However, for the TOA to operate effectively, doctors must first join the organization and show their support for it. Most notably, the members of the TOA also should attend events like the annual TOA Summit that took place last month.

Because TSO is such a big part of this profession in the state of Texas we have a greater responsibility to ensure that we are forming partnerships with organizations that participate in legislative discussions that are relevant to optometrists. And as we look forward to expanding our network, we know that these relationships become even more important when we know that the work done by the TOA is necessary for preserving and extending the scope of our industry.

TSO has always encouraged our members to join the TOA but this year we took it a step further and we had a special drawing for any member of the TSO network who was also a member of the TOA and who had attended the summit for at least two days.

Out of the members who qualified we selected FIVE winners from among those who were able to provide proof of their attendance; these winners mentioned below will each receive a payment of $1,000.

We are also so incredibly thankful for the rest of the members who were able to attend the TOA Summit this year. When we can all participate and show our support for the organization that has a hand in the legislative trajectory of the optometry profession it shows other groups in the state and in this industry that the members of TSO are a group of dedicated and capable doctors who can effect change and bring more positive outcomes to the industry all while improving quality eye care for every Texan.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Dr. Aaron Reneau, Dr. Joseph Allison, Dr. Erin Jacob, Dr. Yvonne Diaz and Dr. Jenny Nguyen who are the winners of our special drawing. Thank you for being active members of the TOA and attending this years Summit.
