Shareholders Elect New Directors

TSO, Inc. shareholders elected four new directors which took office on July 1, 2021 for a three year term.

Dr. Roland Montemayor, Dr. Benny Peña and Outside Director, Mr. Jack Gunion were term-limited from seeking re-election having served two, consecutive three year terms. Dr. Jonathan Sher chose not to run for reelection.

Elected to the board were Dr. Chris Warford, who owns practices in Baytown and Mont Belvieu, Dr. Cameron Smith who owns practices in Mansfield and Midlothian, Dr. Nelson Juarez who owns a practice in Texas City. Mr. David Friedfeld, President of Clearvision Optical was elected to serve as an Outside Director.

Dr. Chris Warford grew up in Baytown, Texas where his father owned the Texas State Optical. He graduated in 1980 from the University of Houston College of Optometry with honors (Beta Sigma Kappa). He is a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and is certified as a Glaucoma Specialist. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and The Texas Optometric Association.

Dr. Cameron Smith was born and raised in the Houston suburb of Pasadena, Texas. Prior to moving to Mansfield to open Mansfield TSO, Cameron served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Houston College of Optometry and was a practicing clinical Optometrist at several private practices in the Houston area. During that time, he found that he loved the hands-on clinical environment best and in 2007 he moved from Houston and opened Mansfield TSO.

Nelson Juarez, OD, practices family eye care in Texas City. A native of Galveston, Dr. Juarez graduated from Galveston Ball High School. He studied at the University of Houston where he earned a degree in biology in 1999 and went on to graduate from the University of Houston College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2003. His first career move was with the TSO Texas City. After three years, he purchased the practice and became the new owner in June, 2006.

Dr. Warford and Dr. Smith also have the distinction of owning the two, highest volume practices in the Texas State Optical Network with their Mansfield and Baytown offices reaching the Three Million Dollar markin 2018.

David Friedfeld is president of ClearVision Optical, one of the largest family owned eyewear distributors in North America. Based in Hauppauge, NY, ClearVision designs and distributes 13 distinctive brands.

David provides vision and leadership to all areas within the ClearVision organization. Under his guidance, ClearVision has received countless honors and accolades from both the eyewear industry and the business community.

All directors serve a three year term with each board year running from July 1st to the following June 30th. Term limits prevent directors from serving more than two, consecutive, three-year terms. Directors which have reached their two, consecutive three year terms can run again once they have been off the board for at least two years.
