Embracing Community

Since the start of the pandemic, we have talked about the longing and excitement for grand reunions, whether it was to reunite once again in person with family or loved ones or to simply reunite amongst others in society. This longing to be around others points to the fact that we as human beings are designed to be a part of a community.

An almost 80-year old Harvard study has proved that embracing community helps us live longer, be happier, and be better prepared when challenges come our way. During this unprecedented period in our history, the importance of community has never been greater, nor has the opportunity to interact in person ever been more critical.

Here at TSO, Inc., we have something no other optometric group has to offer. Within our community of dedicated and talented independent optometrists, we can work together to build our practices while serving and impacting the lives of thousands of families across Texas.

As the state and the country safely re-opened, it allowed for our annual meeting to take place. During the two and a half day long reunion, Shareholders from across the Network gathered around to collaborate, share ideas, participate in engaging dialogue about the future and the many changes that have occurred. Dr. Robertson the Chairman of the Board of Directors said he felt “More connected to the group and plugged in to the TSO Network of doctors” . Through the means of collaboration this connection was created and it resonated throughout the entire group bringing forth new a perspective to many and informing others on what is on the horizon.

In addition to great collaboration, Shareholders voted on new BOD members and the Doctors of TSO, participated in Continuing Education courses lead Dr. Joseph J. Pizzimenti, O.D., and Dr. Sandra Fortenberry, O.D. While the staff and managers learned about selling techniques and overcoming obstacles in courses led by Mark Hinton.

This year’s Family Reunion not only created the space to embrace community once again but it also gave the attendees the much awaited feeling of “normalcy” and created excitement and optimism for the future. With that in mind, we announce that next year’s Texas State Optical Family Reunion will be held from June 5, 2022 to June 7, 2022 at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort And Spa in Bastrop, Texas.

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year and we hope that Family Reunion continues to be a place where we can enjoy each other’s company, build lasting relationships, and feel a sense of community and camaraderie.
