Providing Hope Through Eyecare and the Gospel

Featuring: TSO Atascocita: Dr. Aaron Reneau

Helping people improve their vision is incredible, but combining that with serving Jesus Christ and sharing the gospel makes it extraordinary. It’s truly inspiring that Dr. Aaron Reneau has been serving others through his faith and passion for optometry since 2006. He has traveled and led mission trips across several countries countless times. Providing hope through eye care and the gospel has become a meaningful part of his life.

This year, from May 18-25, 2024, Dr. Reneau traveled with Sight Ministry International to El Salvador. Their team consisted of eleven people, including two optometrists. During their trip, they visited a total of five communities surrounding San Salvador, where they provided eye care for a thousand people. The clinic sites were chosen by Good News in Action, an organization whose purpose is bringing the gospel of Jesus Christ to Latin America. They visited an orphanage, a community center, two churches, and a clothing store.

El Salvador has a long and tumultuous history, marked by a civil war between the government and gangs. Recently, the new president declared martial law, resulting in the arrest of anyone with suspected gang affiliations. This shift allowed Dr. Reneau and the rest of the group to be the first ones to operate in these communities since the gangs were removed.

“The people were very gracious and excited for us to visit. It is always a pleasure to meet new friends and provide them with hope through eyecare and the gospel.” Dr. Reneau reminisced.

The TSO Network will always recognize Dr. Reneau for his commitment and passion for bringing the gift of sight to those in need. We are excited to hear about Dr. Reneau’s next mission trip and admire his devotion to his faith and optometry.
