On September 9th, the University of Houston College of Optometry celebrated the Topping Out Ceremony of the UH Health and Biomedical Sciences Center. Unfortunely, I was not able to attend but I understand it was quite an event. When complete, this center will continue to reshape the landscape of the University of Houston campus, and we have played a prominent role in its creation.
Dr. Earl Smith was gracious in thanking all the groups and individuals who played a part in supporting its construction. Dr. Smith expressed how grateful he was to the Doctors of Texas State Optical for our pledge of one million dollars. We can all be proud of the fact that we will always be recognized as the first group to make such a pledge. The pledge represents our commitment to quality optometric education and our support for the UHCO family. The ceremony was followed by a UH chili and beer celebration that took place in the area that will be the Doctors of TSO Education Center. The facility will be impressive and each and every person who enters will see our name prominently displayed near the entrance of the center. I think it is safe to say that we have been able to accomplish something as a group that would have been impossible individually. It’s a testament to what our group has become known for…….Caring doctors who work together for the sake of all.
Keep in touch,
