September 2017 l 3 TSO Welcomes Dr. Valenta Carter At the Network office we are working to update everyone on the welfare of our members, their families, their team members and their offices. Our hearts and prayers go out to those who have lost their homes and property. Dr. Valenta Carter, a native of Temple, Texas, graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas State University - San Marcos with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Following Texas State, Dr. Carter attended University of Houston College of Optometry where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry. During her collegiate training, Dr. Carter participated in hands-on internships that specialized in ocular pathologies. She provided ocular care to Cherokee and Pueblo Native Americans at Northeastern State University College of Optometry satellite health clinics in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and at the Santa Fe Indian Hospital in Santa Fe, New Mexico. After providing eye care with several premium health care professionals around Texas, Dr. Carter is excited to open her own practice and join the TSO Network. “I will continue providing patients with premium vision care through the use of the latest cutting-edge technology that allows for precise prescriptions and high-quality lenses,” Dr. Carter said. Dr. Carter specializes in comprehensive ocular examinations, contact lens evaluations, diabetic ocular health assessments, co-manages refractive and cataract surgeries, and diagnose and treat various ocular pathologies. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association, and she also serves as Trustee at Large II for the National Optometric Association. Dr. Carter is committed to providing customized care for each patient because maximizing their vision is paramount to her. “To be that person, who can help provide visual clarity, and perhaps envision all the possibilities of the world, is a gift I truly enjoy sharing,” Dr. Carter said.
