TSO Network Update - July 2017

July 2017 l 3 TSO Network Core Values What forms the bond between us as a group of independent practices is the voluntary commitment to a set of core values. By embracing and conducting ourselves in this manner, we set ourselves apart as an example in our industry. Visionary Spirit The belief that there are no challenges but rather opportunities. Invested in Relationships Providing quality eyecare depends on building and nurturing relationships with our patients, our colleagues and our profession. Dedicated Professionals We demonstrate respect for our patients and profession by the manner in which we conduct ourselves and the effort made improving our skills and abilities. Leadership Through Service We believe leadership is earned through service to others, service to our associates, our Network members and our professional and civic communities. Vision Quest Stronger Together An old man on the point of death summoned his sons around him to give them some parting advice. He ordered them to bring in a bundle of sticks, and said to his eldest son, “Break it.” The son strained and strained, but with all his efforts was unable to break the bundle. The other sons also tried, but none succeeded. “Untie the bundle,” said the father. “Each of you take a stick.” When they had done so, he told them, “Now, break.” Each stick was easily broken. “You see my meaning,” said the father. This timeless Aesop’s Fable illustrates for us the strength we have as a Network of independent optometrists working together to build our individual practices. The opportunity we have to build our Network and make an impact on thousands of lives of families in our communities. The duty we have to be an influence in our profession by involvement in our local societies, state and national associations. We are stronger, together. During the two and half day conference, attendees learned from keynote speaker and author, Curtis Zimmerman, and industry-recognized optometrist, Dr. Mark Wright. Mr. Zimmerman expanded knowledge of leadership and management through an invigorating welcome message and through an intensive hands-on continuing education session. Dr. Mark Wright provided context for creating a culture of excellence through office operations in his three hour continuing education course. Together, the goal of Vision Quest is to provide the Doctors and staff of TSO with the foundations of an empowered and educated team with the necessary leadership skills to succeed. Doctors of TSO and office managers learned the essential elements of retailing, staff performance and key management skills that were, for some, implemented immediately upon returning to the office.
