TSO Network Update - January 2018

Vol. 7, Issue 1 January 2018 Happy New Year. I’m sure everyone has lots to do to close out 2017. Hopefully, between the holiday parties, office paperwork and inventory, the ultimate measure of our Network is bringing success to your practice. We have a lot of plans for 2018 that involve business strategies, Network run call center and insurance billing service and growth of the Network. I hope to bring us all together to achieve our common goal. The strength of the team is each individual member, the strength of each member is the team—Phil Jackson I’d like to point out a few events that our TSO shareholders should consider as important to save on their calendars. The annual TOA convention is Feb 22-25. I would like to have a STRONG TSO optometrist presence at the convention. This is a great opportunity to not only get CE but also, to meet prospective associate doctors, look at new/ innovative products and my favorite part is the “hallway CE” pearls I get from interacting with other ODs. There has been some rumor and innuendo in the industry that our Network is fragile. This could potentially hinder our recruiting of new members, associate doctors, staff, and leverage to bargain with vendors. This would be a great opportunity to show our strength and unity. Every family can have a disagreement, but it gets resolved and the family grows together. Plus, us ODs on the board would love the opportunity to visit with other shareholders and staff. Let’s show everyone that TSO is stronger than ever and poised to take on the many changes our industry is currently undergoing. Tough times don’t last, tough teams do. Also, Vision Quest is June 10-14 in Portland, Oregon. One of our TSO Network five-year goals is 70% participation at Vision Quest. The above benefits of attending the TOA convention still apply here, but there are some additional Chairman’s CORNER - Benny Peña, OD Happy New Year! benefits to attending Vision Quest. There is TSO specific training and CE. The shareholder meeting is also an opportunity share Network information such as annual budget, member achievements, and to meet new members, and prospective members. Additional information as to the new or developing programs that are available to members, like the call center and insurance processing services. We also plan to have vendor promotions that are only available at Vision Quest. Please plan to come to Portland and join up with your fellow TSO doctors and Network staff. A single pencil by itself it is weak and easily broken. But a bundle of 20 pencils is much stronger and almost impossible to break. Our Network is similar. If we stick together we can accomplish great things that improve our individual offices. Let’s make 2018 our most successful year yet. Hope to see you at TOA and Vision Quest!
