TSO Network Update - August 2018

2 z August 2018 Network News Vision Quest Doctors Made a Difference with Optometry Giving Sight For many years, TSO has welcomed Optometry Giving Sight to exhibit and interact with attendees at the Vision Quest Conference. Optometry Giving Sight is the only global fundraising initiative that specifically targets the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error. “As an immigrant to the United States, I came from a country where resources and freedoms were limited. Growing up in the U.S. truly helped me to appreciate how fortunate I was. From the time my own children were old enough to understand, I’ve taught them that one of the most precious things in life was opportunity. I support Optometry Giving Sight because this organization opens the door for a successful life, versus another generation of hopelessness. I believe OGS truly impacts young lives and makes a difference in this world. The World Sight Day Challenge is fast approaching. I encourage all doctors of Texas State Optical and their staff to participate in this worthy program because few things are as precious as an opportunity.” - Dr. Maxwell Olumba During the conference, Optometry Giving Sight’s Chief Development Officer, Eric Anderson spoke with many attending TSO offices to participate in the World Sight Day Challenge. At Vision Quest alone, a total of 15 Doctors of TSO donated a total of $4,500 towards the World Sight Day Challenge, which is a major fundraising campaign coordinated by Optometry Giving Sight designed to raise funds for projects that provide training, establish vision centers and deliver eye care services for people who simply need an eye exam and a pair of glasses. Thank you all of the doctors who continue to make a difference by supporting Optometry Giving Sight.
