We all fear change, but change is not necessarily bad. The board of directors our TSO members have elected are diligently working at restructuring options that will better the company. This is not the first time that we have been met with the challenge of change. We all have had to submit to change in our own office staff. I know that in most cases, it has allowed us to redefine the position we are hiring for and hire a person whose skill set fits that definition. Rest assured, TSO will continue to improve and grow in spite of change.
“To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.”-Winston Churchill
Speaking of change, staff turnover affects us all. We are in constant need of training, especially for skilled opticians. Our TSO network realizes this and has set up training for our opticians on October 13 in Houston. The workshop will be led by the people responsible for the Essilor Quick Start program. It will include core optician skills, role play, and hands on labs to help increase optical knowledge. This training will not only help the optician gain confidence in their skills, this type of training also helps with employee retention which in the long run makes for a more efficient office. Keep a look out for an upcoming email with registration info.
