How should our office respond to patient questions about insurance exchanges and new vision plans?
Beginning in 2014, your patients will probably expect you to know all the details about their insurance exchanges and new vision coverage. For many of your patients, there will probably not be a need for urgent or immediate action.
The new exchanges and insurance changes will predominantly affect uninsured individuals. For your patients with insurance through their employers, Medicare or Medicaid, there won’t be large changes. If you have patients that are uninsured or think they may qualify for subsidies to make insurance more affordable, you can direct them to www.Healthcare.gov.
As we all know, many of your patients depend on the doctor and his staff to answer questions about their specific plan and benefits. Keep your staff updated on all changes with TSO vision plans by reading the TSO Update.
