Happy New Year!

Hard to believe it is 2016 already. But it is, and it is time to make some New Year’s resolutions. Most of us probably sit down at this time of year and make some plans, projections, budgets, and goals for the coming year. It is a good thing to do.

TSO has been working hard and planning too. As you all know, there have been many meetings and planning sessions over the past two years and it appears many of them are finally starting to fall into place. Here are some of the things that should happen in 2016:

The new Brand Standards are about ready to be rolled out. Even though we are a group of independent optometrists, it is important for the network that patients have a good and similar experience as they may go from one office to the other throughout the network. The Brand Standards will enable us to have some similarities in customer care and service in every office and will make patients want to stay within the network. Texas is growing and people coming into the state from other states have never heard of TSO. These standards will help them know who we are and want to do business with us.

If you are going to open a new office or remodel an existing office, you really should look at the designs that have been developed by Eye Designs and proposed by the Board. They are designed to allow the best in-patient care and encourage our patients to buy eyewear from us. Most of us are good optometrists, but we can use some help in marketing, space planning, and retail merchandising. A number of offices are planning on using one of these designs, including me, in my remodel this year.

The first company-planned location will be opening in the Dallas/Fort Worth area this year. We will open locations for optometrists and then allow them to take over the note in the future. This will make it much easier for younger doctors to open their own office. These new locations will be of the new design.

Our own line of frames, The Lonestar Collection, will be debuted and available for purchase at Vision Quest. This line of frames will enable us to purchase high quality product at a greatly reduced price, to increase profits.

New websites with the ability to allow patients to schedule on line from their computers or phones will be available very soon. This is what the millennials want and we have to keep up or get left behind.

A new lab agreement will go into place in late 2016. The lab committee has been working very hard on this and the new agreement will be the best one ever with tremendous savings across the board.

The Edge is available to all TSO offices and will not only give you numbers to show how your office is doing, but also will allow you to compare your office with others and make changes where needed.

I think this is a very exciting time to be a TSO and 2016 will finally start to show the results of a lot of work that have been done over the past few years. This is only the beginning, however. If we all get on board and move forward, our network will grow and be even stronger than we are now.

So, what are your plans for the New Year? Do you need to paint and replace carpet? Do you need a complete remodel? Do you need some new equipment? Now is the time to start planning. Talk to your regional managers. They can guide you with whatever you need.

Let’s make 2016 the best year ever. Have a great year!
