We’re just a month away from the October 1 deadline, the last day to still meet the 90-day Meaningful Use period in 2011. This is still enough time to start using a certified electronic medical records (EMR) system such as Crystal Practice Management or Office Mate.
The main measure many physicians are not aware of is Core Measure 12 and 13 both focused on giving patients access to Health Information and Clinical summaries.
Owning certified software is not enough to get reimbursement, actually implementing the measures in your office and attesting to Medicare you fulfilled all the requirements is necessary to get any stimulus incentives. Printing a Continuity of Care Record from your certified EMR system or making it available online for 50% of your patients will be required starting October 1.
