Back to school. This is one of my favorite times of year. First, all the football magazines come out and I need to know who will be good or not. As many of you know, I’m a huge college football fan. I have season tickets to Texas State University football. Go cats! Second, it is time for the little ones to go back to school. If you still have kids at home, which I do not anymore but I remember what it is like – this is a good time to get them back into a routine and excited about all that is new before them. It’s also a good thing because the whole household can get to bed at a regular hour and not stay up all night.
There is something special about getting families ready for school. Mothers and fathers will be shopping for clothes, purchasing their school supplies, picking out the new backpack and scheduling their eye exams. We know this is important because 80% of learning is visual. You cannot learn what you can’t see. There is a seasonal increase in people making appointments and at times this can be very hectic. There will be lots of children in the office over the next several weeks and we need to be ready. Set up a time to review with your staff and issues related to children’s vision needs, and the different options that parents have in making decisions. Anti- reflection treatments, Transitions VII, polycarbonate lens, multiple pair for sports or computer work, and a solid good looking frame are all items to review with parents when purchasing eyewear for their students.
Yes it is busy and fun. I like being busy and seeing kids. They are full of energy and fun. Enjoy this time of the year, it is the best.
